Where Berkley Came From
Berkley was founded in 1937 by 16-year-old Berkley Bedell in Spirit Lake, Iowa, started with about $50 he had saved from a paper route. The company introduced Trilene monofilament fishing line in 1959, a product that became an industry standard. Berkley is now part of Pure Fishing.
